Placing nest boxes for American Kestrels is an important way to help increase populations numbers in areas that are seeing dwindling numbers of these beautiful falcons. This is the time of year to begin building and placing new nest boxes for cavity nesting species. These boxes work equally well for small owls like the Screech Owl. We have been actively involved in placing and monitoring nest boxes for American Kestrels for many years now, and have tested many different box designs. This design by Art Gingert is the best we have seen and is well worth the time and effort needed to construct. This nest box will last many nesting seasons and provides far more room for developing young kestrels than typical boxes; and are easy to monitor, clean, and maintain.
